Hey we're in Windy Wellington :)
It really is as windy as they say!
Just keeping you updated;
In Taupo we went for the mountain biking/kayaking day. It was really fun, the mountain biking was scary kos I realised I'd never actually done it before and the tracks were scary as hell.
We saw Huka Falls though which was really pretty, but me and Dan got spilt up from each other and I fell into a bush and got some battle wounds haha as always.
Kayaking was awesome was down the only river that flows out of lake Taupo and its the longest in NZ. It was real gentle and not much effort kos the you just went with the flow. We got to stop and watch people bungee from the cliff into the river as well which was really cool.
We were meant to do para sailing the next day but it rained and the wind was crazy so obviously couldn't do it :(
We hit up Wellington on Wednesday after 6 hours on the bus, boo!
It's a really nice pretty place, we've not seen much yet but the waterfront is really nice.
They have the Te Papa which is the big national museum which is free and that was really good.
They had a massive squid they'd caught in all its juices it was about 6 foot long, well freaky!
We made our own squid, couldn't resist..
Here's some other stuff from the Te Papa..
We're staying at the Nomads hostel which has a bar next door so we went there for New Years, it was cool and cheap but they had a big birthday party on and yunno how it is when your a couple of randoms in a bar full of people that know each other. They got a big rowdy too with guys stripping and girls getting wet (with water haha) and dancing on the bar for $1000 champagne. I wasn't up there or you'd be hearing about my broken leg.
At about twenty to twelve we went to the waterfront for the big countdown there were loads of people there and some dancers and musicians but no fireworks at 12 which was stupid! What kind of capital city doesn't have fireworks on new years?
Ahh well, I got no pictures kos I didnt take my camera out but you didnt miss much.
We're in a 8 bed dorm and for some reason it turns out I'm the only girl in there and so obviously it stinks and it gets super hot in there. One guy came in after new years eve at 7am and the next day we came to learn he'd spent 5 hours in the strip club haha so funny!
Everyone left this morning and after hoping for less people or at least some female company. 1 old American guy came in and then 4 younger dudes from the south island. They were telling us that the town they come from has 100 people!? Imagine living in a town with 100 people, everyone knows every ones business! Harsh.
We went down to the beach today for a couple of hours kos it was nice and warrrm. I obviously didn't rub in my suncream well enough kos I've burnt in random patches, I look like a moose!
Dan's burnt down one side of his face as well though so I don't feel such an idiot.
We went New World (NZ's waitrose equivalent) after to get some lunch, their counters crap all over Sainsbury's new counters, they have the craziest selection of food like I had a croissant with ham cheese tomato lettuce and mayo was so nice like proper gourmet type sandwich for $4.70 which is like 2 quid (they don't have a pound sign on these keyboards!) there was hot food you could choose like chicken nuggets and Dan had some brunch cake. They have every different type of cake and pastry and then their salad bar is crazy as well.
Sam Grubb with your love of food you should come check it out.
So that's about it really. We're looking for a flat to rent for the next couple of months here so we can get jobs etc. but I'll let you know how that one goes. We're going to look at an apartment tomorrow to see if its any goooord then we'll decide from there what we do. Sorry theres not more pictures, I'll put some more up when I take some!
Sweet as bro xx
